” Odelay ” by Beck (independent blog entry)

” Odelay “,  is the fifth studio album release by American song writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Beck. The title, surged as a phonetic mock to the commonly used Mexican word “ Orale ”, which means “ Let’s go ” or many times interpreted as “ No way ! ”. Release on June 18 of 1996, “ Odelay ” quickly caught the attention of industry experts, who in great extent talked about Beck’s impressive artistic and creative work. With it’s amazing production, mostly done by The Dust Brothers, Odelay positioned it self among the most influential works of its time.

The album featured the hit singles: “ Where it’s at”, “ Devils Haircut”, and “ The New Pollution”, which exhibited an impressive musical and lyrical work. It’s cover, which at first glance appears to be the picture of a hairy bird, but it is actually a picture of a Komondor (Hungarian dog with thick matted hair) jumping an Olympic hurdle; picture that Beck found very interesting and funny when his girlfriend showed it to him right about when he was deciding which would be the cover for his new album.

The album peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200 chart and impressively sold over 200 million copies in the US. Meanwhile in the United Kingdom, it peaked at # 17, and became Beck’s first hit album in the UK. The album was also nominated to the Grammys in 1997 and at this time also won also won a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal.

Due to its great-success in the 90’s, the album was reissued on 2008 as a two disk album that included a number of bonus tracks, nineteen B sides, various unreleased songs, and a few remixes. The cover intentionally looked someones 1997 copy of the Odelay original version, and once-again became a statement of Beck’s creativity in the entertainment industry.

Beck’s music started a trend of new artist who mixed the organic with the surreal and the folk with the electronic. Artist like; Spoon, Cake, Sonic Youth, were a clear example of Beck’s influence through out time.

My impressions

Beck’s work as a musician, song-writer and producer, has always been an inspiration for me. He is one of my favorite artist to listen and watch, as I believe he has a tremendous awareness of his work, and he knows how this one will influence and transform the world. By listening to much of Beck’s discography, ranging from first recording ( Golden Feelings) to his latest work (Modern Guilt), I have been strongly influenced by his work and I have studied carefully many of his other albums in-order to improve my own music through the-use of samples and various time based and dynamic effects applied in a creative way. In the next five years, I want to become better as a producer, as through Beck’s work, I have come to understand that the mastery of the use of studio equipment,  is just as the mastery of playing and instrument. I want to learn how to play “ all the studio equipment” just as I know how to play a piano or a guitar. I know that by having a greater understanding of the studio’s tools, I will continue to innovate not only through my music, but also through my creative production work.

Comment to Travis Sanders Blog Post on Daft Punk

Very interesting blog post Travis ! It is well written and very descriptive, people who don’t know anything about Daft Punk can get a clear idea of the impact that they have had in the industry. The song that I like the most from the album “ Homework is “ Indo Silver Club ”, because of its repetitive phrases which have great sonic variations that creatively move to keep the attention of the listener.

It is because of Daft Punk that I started using Vocorder, and most recently have been learning more about it. The style of music I like to listen is in all along the line of what Daft Punk is, this is why I also believe that they have been the pioneer of an electronic movement that change the electronic genre.

Dafts Punk image is also a great feature of them, I believe that even though there are many that may want to imitate them, in their case, the futuristic images fits them great because it authentically expresses their essence, truly nobody can imitate them.

Your post provides great insight on what Daft Punk is and it provides great points which the reader can grab from to make a deeper research. Thanks for sharing this important information Travis.

DNA Blocks of a Successful Recording (final blog draft)

A great album is not only a compilation of great songs, but it is a group of detailed processes that contribute to an overall success. Through this post I will expand on a few of these and provide a wider perspective of the industries needs for artists who are committed to make of their art a way of living.

Through specific guidelines and an awareness of this important details, which I call the DNA blocks of a successful recording, we can build a strong foundation that can direct us to achieve the best results in the best time possible.

The Studio

Selecting the right place to record your music will set you on the right track since the beginning. Select a place that inspires you, a place with the right commodities; bathroom, resting area, etc. A place where you and your fellow musicians can work at ease, and gives everyone the right energy to record and to coexist successfully.

Select a studio with the right equipment for your style of music; a place that blends just as an instrument with each of your songs.

Research on the audio interfaces, mics, speakers, and instruments that the studio owns; also their history and components. Listen to some of the recordings done with these; This way you can know what to expect and what changes to make to achieve the right results; If you record at home, make sure that you record in a clean and inspiring environment that will contribute to your success).

The Songs

Create songs with a professional structure, lyrics and arrangements. Make some research on popular song structures used by artists of the same genre, which have been a part of any countries top 20 chart list to understand the required protocols to construct hit songs. When arranging your music, also make sure you do a careful selection of instrumentation for each played part, as this will continue to add to the quality of your work

Finally, make sure that your current songs, connect at some point with the albums theme. This is very important to keep a coherent idea through out the project as well as a connection with all the graphics or images on the album.

The Production

Work with an engineer that has good knowledge about studio recording techniques. Someone that can implement any time based or dynamic effects to your music to add volume and definition to your music. This will make the mixing process and mastering much easier once you get to it.

Understand the micking process and the different techniques to achieve the sound you are looking for; this will get more out of the natural sound of your selected instruments. Mix all instrument parts accordingly to achieve the right balance which will set the stage for a smooth mastering process. Make sure that once your mix is well organized and labeled, your sonic levels are at the right place to start the mastering process.

The Album’s Theme

Identify the album’s theme and use the appropriate colors, photo quality, hairstyles and photo frames, to present the intended message. Visual art is as important as the audio material; give it the same degree of importance in order the synchronize every aspect of your recording, including audio, video, promotional market, and more.

Comment on Brianne’s Foster ( Full Sail University) Post on The Human League

Nice Post Brianne ! It is simple and with very valuable information, your post about The Human League is easy to digest and you communicate clearly who the band is. Furthermore, I did not know they were the ones that sung the song “ Don’t You Want Me”, which I really like. Also very interesting to learn about their line up change, prior to their big success in the 1980’s.

Moreover, it is important to notice how changes many times although they might seem difficult, many times they are for good and they can bring much more benefits to our lives, which is the case for them. I bet it was not easy for them to survive in the industry and the idea of changing their line up did not sounded that great in the beginning, but it brought great benefits in the future.

On the other hand,  I also find their line up very original too, one male singer and 2 male vocalists, because they do not have the typical line up and this  still did not stop them from making it big, which many times other band found hard to deal with as they felt awkward not being like the others.

Finally, thanks for sharing the information on their records and music, I have not heard much of their music, but I will look in to it because the music I make is in the same genre.

Research on The Mini Moog

The Mini Moog

The Mini Moog is a monophonic analog synthesizer invented in the 1970‘s by Bill Hemsath and Robert Moog. Three prototypes where build before the final version, Mini Moog Model-D by R.A Moog Inc, which was presented to the world in 1970. The Mini Moog Model-D was very portable and perfect for live performances, (various custom synthesizers had been used in the past only in the studio, but these were very big and complicated machines) and quickly became on of the most sought out synthesizers in the industry. Artists like: Krafwerk, Sun Ra, Keith Emerson, PFM, Jeff Beck, Devo and many more, soon started to use it to innovate in the music industry.

The Mini Moog original design included the most important parts of modular synthesis which were: VCO’s, VCF’s and VCA’s, from which various sounds and noise could be created, modified, and mixed. In a simple way, although the process is much more complex, here is a quick summary of how it all worked:

The musician first selectes a sound shape or type of noise generated by the VCO’s. Then the VCO provided a choice of several switchable waveforms, the signals are then routed through the mixer to the Voltage controlled filter, where harmonic content is modified and resonance is added. Finally, the filtered signal was routed to the VCA, where it is shaped by an ADS envelope, and then the desired sound is heard.

This ingenious design, also became an industry standard, from which many other manufactures derived their products from, like the company Studio Electronics who created the Midimoog in the 1980’s but failed to overpower the success of The Mini Moog.  The Mini Moog is possible the most important synthesizer ever invented and arquitecture has also became the foundation of many other synths, like  The Prophet 5,  Yamaha CS80, Roland D50 (Polysynth) and the Korg M1 (Polysynth).

The Mini Moog became the most popular synthesizer of the 1970’s and was quickly adopted by many artist who wanted innovate in their style of music and genre.

Here a few albums by different artists where the Mini Moog was used.

  1. Jeff Beck, album “ Wired “, a lot of pitch bending is demonstrated by Jan Hammer.
  2. Gary Numan’s, album “ Replicas “, much use of various features of the Mini Moog through out the album.
  3. Michael Jackson, album “ Thriller “, two Mini Moogs were layer out and used to create the base line of the them song.
  4. Yes, various albums: Close To The Edge, Tales from Topographic Oceans, Going For The One, and more.
  5. Radiohead, album “ The King Of Limbs From the Basement “, much use of the Moog is heard on every song of the album.

The Moog’s impact in the music industry was that of becoming the first portable synthesizer that was affordable, and did not required any patch chords to achieve the the desired sounds. Before, there had been other modular synths but these were big, expensive and complicated to control. This is why the Moog quickly became a great asset to many musicians, and contributed to the transformation of much music genres through out time.

 My Impressions

The Mini Moog is an incredible versatile instrument with an outstanding range of power and creative sonic capabilities. It can be use in any music styles because of its wide range of sounds, and it is a great compliment to any music style, ranging in form electronic to blues, or Reggae. it certainly always adds a colorful touch when used to implement o complement any musical ideas.

Moreover, I believe that the work put into designing this instrument was done to perfection,  and this is something that has been proven with time, as it is still in high demand today and much of its original parts and process have not had any major changes.

Throughout time many have tried to emulate much of what the Mini Moog integrates, but have failed. The Mini Moog today is still one of the most sought out synthesizers and has established its legacy, and I know it will keep accompanying music through-out its continuous evolution.

Study on Kraftwerks Music and Image

Kraftwerk

Kraftwerk is an innovative electronic band commanded by Ralph Hutter and Florian Schneider, formed in Germany in the 1970‘s. Describe by many as minimalist electronics, through the complex processes of synthesizers and many other custom made electronic machines, Ktraftwerk’s introduced the world to a new way of creating, recording and performing music.

Some of their albums release from 1974 to 1981 included the following:

1. Autobahn (1974): Fourth studio album,  released on Nov 1974, where we can hear the use of a flute, violins and electric guitars, which merge the acoustic with the electronic conceptual sounds.

2. Radio activity ( 1975) Fifth studio album which featured language specific lyrics, recorded in English and German. Half the songs in this album were about radioactivity and the other half were about activity in the radio. This was the first self produce album by Ralf and Florian, also recorded at Kling Klang studios, which they owned, were they had much of their customs machines. This album also featured the use of the Vako Orchestron Keyboard and the Moog Micromoog which provided much of the bizarre yet musical sounds through out the record.

3. Trans Europe Express (1977) Sixth studio album recorded in Germany which main     theme was the sound of Europe’s endless trains,  and many social economical problems. Many lyrics on this album are influenced by David Bowie and Iggy Pop, as prior to the recording of this album, Ralph and Florian met various times with them. An important piece of equipment used in this album was the Synthanoma Sequenzer, which was built custom made by Matten and Wiechers for the band. \

4. Die Mensch-Maschine or The Man-Machine ( 1978 ) Seventh studio album, contains the song “ The Model ”, which reached number #36 in the UK charts. We can say that this album is the intercessor of what later on became electro-pop music. As previous albums, The Man Machine also had a theme to it’s material; songs that focused on science fiction-esque links between humans and technology, and other songs which mainly painted the glamour of urbanization.

5. Computer Welt (1981 ) The eight studio album,  mainly deals with the topic of the increasingly use of computers among society. Once-again, with the release of this album, the bands innovative approach to music, kept strongly influencing the world’s main stream. Many critics say that with the release of this album, Kraftwerk reached one of the highest points in their career, as they had finally establish a clear identity for their music and their

Moreover, just as Kraftwerk’s music was heavily influencing the industry at the time,  also their image became a powerful and talked about statement that contributed much to their success. Their image caught the attention of the world, with the use of dark, or even vivid colors, sometimes nerdy looking outfits, and countless futuristic images of machines, mannequins, and more; Kraftwerk established their vision of the world, themselves, and much of the what was going in on historically in every way.

My Impressions

I am impressed and strongly attracted to much of Kraftwerk’s music and art. I genuinely value and admire their contributions to the music industry and I would classify all of their work as Genius. They had a very good understanding of what innovations meant, which is the art of presenting new things or methods, they also exceptionally use to their advantage every visual and sonic space when creating their ideas.

The way Ralph and Florian worked really comes to show the importance of creativity and the power of the human mind. They demonstrated that not only through nature and its many layers music could exist, but also thru machines and the artificial world much could be expressed and felt.

My Impressions

Kraftwerk came to unite the tangible with the intangible, the real with the unreal, and although many other had attempted to do this before, they were the ones that came up with the right recipe to make this to work together. With their infinite approach to music, sound, and visual arts, they opened the way through which the industry moved towards to, and from which everything is being derived from today. Kraftwerk has set a mark in history and by studying much of their work I have understood much more about the processes of making music and art in general.  I have also gained a wider understanding of what creating original music means, and how this could be achieved.

Analysis on Marvin Gaye and Brian Eno’s Works

“ What’s Going On ” by Marvin Gaye

Marvin Gaye was an American singer-songwriter and musician who recorded many memorable songs during the Motown movement of the 1960‘s. Prior to What’s going on, on of his most popular albums, Gaye sang mainly love songs. With albums like “ I Heard it Through the Grapevine ” and “ That’s the Way Love is ” Gaye, positioned him self as on of the most talented and popular RnB singer of his days.

During his days as an artist the Vietnam war was at it worst and from 1959 to 1975 things got very tough in the United States. As Marvin’s younger brother Frankie, was drafted to go to war and survive a three year tour of duty abroad. When he came back he told Marvin much of his war stories. This is when Mavin was hit with the reality that his younger brother had been out there risking his life, and it was then that he got a bigger awareness of what was really going on in the world and felt profound pain towards this cruel reality.

In 1969, Renaldo Obie Benson from The Fourtops, as he wondered why there was so much death and why were there so many young soldiers being sent overseas to kill or to be killed, he got inspired to write : “ What’s Going On “ in collaboration with lyricist Al Cleveland, which he then showed to Gaye the song, and which Gaye propose a deal to Gaye in order to-have him singing the song.  Gaye really liked the song and agreed to fine tune the lyrics in-order to make it more visual and more of a love song, rather than a protest song.

While Gaye was well known for his romantic hit songs, Motown did not believe in Marvin’s idea of presenting  “ What’s going on” as his single for his new album. Berry Gordy, founder of Motown’s, also believed that by Marvin presenting himself with this type of messages he was going to end up ruining his career. At various times Gordy discussed this with Gaye, but the single was finally released on January of 1971, selling over 100,000 copies this-same day.

Much of the songs in the album where viewed by Gaye as love songs, as these talked about loving each other in-order to stop war, violence, racism, police brutality, poverty, and hatred in-general. Gaye felt passionate about this subjects and strongly believed that his way of combating them was through music and love.

The album What’s Going On was very different from other Motown recordings in many ways. One is because it was an album that did not talk about love the way people were use to hear a bout it. Second, because the albums songs were connected with each other to make it sound as if it was a long speech or a continuos message, and third because it’s instrumentation had not been used before for music with this type of messages. Instruments like percussion, violins, brass, winds and many other orquestral instruments were used to illustrate the message of love that Gaye wanted to evoke at-that time. “ What’s Going On ” is consider an all time masterpiece of because of its superb arrangements, it’s delightful instrumentation, its love, and its profound lyrics.

My Thoughts on “ What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye

As I learned more about the history behind the realization of “ What’s Going On ”, I came to understand why this album has been on of the most talked about albums of all times. Gaye’s ideas were truly revolutionary in a special way, as he always wanted to experiment with his recordings and with the way he presented him self, which not many where able to achieve during those days. Through this album Gaye really presented something that had not been heard before, to begin, all the album songs were connected with each and it all made sense as a whole, arrangements are incredibly tactful and well placed, the message is well written and exquisitely communicated through Marvin Gaye’s vocals. It clear that memorable works of not only created by accident  but they required much dedication, many times stubbornness and much help of a team.

I really like the fact that Gaye wanted to explore new territories when he came out with this album. He knew people viewed him as an artist who only sang love songs, but he was not scare to follow his heart and presented this new material. He new when to move forward in his heart, and when to stop, and this is what impacted me the most as I read his story.

The lyrics and message of every song in this album are beautifully presented and harmonized. I have enjoyed greatly listening to every song in this album and admire the quality of work that is exhibited here.

Thanks to pioneers like Marvin Gaye, today we have artists like: Mary J Blide, Beyonce, John Legend, Jordin Sparks, Alicia Keys, among many more, who have continued to present the listeners great quality works that have had an impact on our culture.

” Brian Eno-40 Years of Changing Music “

Brian Eno grew up in the English rural Countryside, as a teenager, his interest for technology, recording, and arts, became the driving force that led him to not only become a great painter, but also a great music and producer. As a teenager, Brian did not know how to play any instruments, but this did not stop him form bringing to life his musical soul, and instead he saw an opportunity to master the art of recording and manipulating sound.

Through Eno’s journey in the field of sound design, his talent quickly started to open doors for him, he performed publicly with; Merchant Taylor’s Simultaneous Cabinet, Cornelius Cardew’s  Scratch Orquestra and Portsmouth Sinfonia. Using various synthesizers and amplifiers to manipulate sound live, he kept building a good name for himself as a creative artist and continued to built on top of what pioneers like Cage, Young And Terry Riley had done, and which had influenced him greatly. Bands like The Who and The Velvet Underground also became some of Eno’s favorites at this time and contributed to much of the ideas that inspired him.

In 1969, Eno relocated to London, where he got in contact with saxophonist Andy MacKay, who he knew since college, and who was the leader of the band Roxy Music. Andy, knew of Eno’s talent as an engineer and asked him to record some demos for his band Roxy Music. What happened next was history, as Eno ended up joining the band as a synth player contributing to the incredible success Roxy Music earn as one of most influential experimental bands and authoritative exponents of Glam Rock of the time.

Eno, is well known for his innovative work as an artist, also for the various contributions as a musician and producer with artist like: U2, David Bowie, Talking heads, Robert Fripp, Coldplay, David Byrne and much more. In his works, he has presented, recorded and written music in ways that no other artists have been able to do. Two characteristics that set him apart from other artists where:

1. His ability to manipulate sound in the studio, where he believe that music was not create but changed.

  1. His innovative approach to creating music by creating albums with sole sound loops and modified instrument sounds which gave the listener a sense of a never ending blended ambience song.

Two of his most popular works which I want to highlight, and which are mostly form of ambient recordings, are the following:

  1. Discreet Music: Was Eno’s first purely ambient album, and the first album released under his full name “ Brian Eno”. This album was written after Eno was bed-ridden in a hospital recovering from an automobile accident. He was given an 18th century Harp music record which heard thru a bad speaker which only allowed him to listen to one side of the stereo mix. Music blended perfectly with the ambience of his room that day, so he later explains he learned to create music with a different approach.
  2. Music for Films: Only 500 copies were release in 1976, making it a limited edition album. Eno used this album to present him self as a music composer for films, the album included an address to which people could write in order to get any synchronization licenses. Eno thought of the music of this album as something that could be used for imaginary films, the idea creating music without an image is what he referred to the idea of the listener creating an imaginary film.  There are eighteen pieces on this album and Eno is the only musician for eleven of them.

Compare and Contrast of Two albums

No Pussy footing by Eno and Fripp

This album is incredibly ethereal, long pieces, with sounds of electric guitar, padded synth sounds that repeat, and no percussion instruments used. The first piece sound very natural, it transported me to a Tibetan mountain, It gave me a sense of snow and tranquility in a forest. The second piece, sounds more electrical, with a more aggressive feel and more repetition of synth loops are heard.

Heroes by David Bowie with Eno’s Collaboration

This song is very well organized, it has clear structured in comparison to the songs heard on Pussy footing which seem to be timeless. In the Heroes son I could hear repetitive synth sounds in the back thorough out the entire song. Heroes also has a repetitive feel, the synth has a very spacey sound that makes me the listener have a floating feeling. Definitely two very different works, but the Enos signature is heard clearly in both records as the electronic synth sounds are present.

My Thoughts on Brian Eno’s Work

I got very inspired with Eno’s biography and music. I truly admire the approach he has taken to creating music through-the use of not only instruments but with the use of the recording studio and its many tools as his main instrument. Also I have really enjoyed much of his music, as  listened, it really painted images, produced feelings, and transported me to places through-the use of this many voices, textures and effects.

Moreover, his way of thinking is very open, always trying to break the boundaries of his own ideas and that of a musician. His approach to creating something new, is very accurate an right, as Eno share in his video how he always stands in a different place to commence another new trip that will end up in a new musical master piece.

It is also very admirable that although he was not a musician when he started, he made made the best of what he had and worked his way up un to becoming a musician. This made me think about the many times that we get limits in our mind when we believe that because we do not have something or we do not know something we will not be able to achieve the best results.

Finally, by watching and listening to much of Eno’s music and ideas, I realized how important it is to always be aware of our mind’s ways of thinking in order to break patterns and discover new horizons that will lead us to create memorable recordings and better art in general.

Analysis on Pet Sounds and Revolver

Pet Sounds

During the 1960‘s, as the Vietnam war was taking place, the world was in search of freedom at all means. This is when music came to save the day and The Beach boys came together in 1961 in Hawthorne California. Their music communicated a message of love, fun and overall, SURF. Listening to their music was a good way to forget much of what was going on in the world, as their message fed the liberal soul of the nation.

Brian Wilson, leader of the band, along with his brothers Denis and Carl, his cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardine, came together to create some of the most outstanding music of these days. With their records, “ Surfin’ Safari ”, “ Surfin’ U.S.A” and “ Surfer Girl ”, The Beach Boys became the most heard band of this time.

With this-same spirit of changing the world, in 1966, as Brain Wilson’s talent stood among his group members, he took a step out of the box to create most of the music and lyrics for the Beach Boys eleventh album, “ Pet Sounds”.

Pet Sounds, although it represented The Beach Boys at the time, this was an album that was created mostly by Brian Wilson in attempt to present much of who he was and what was happening in his life. Brian was well know for his amazing musical talent since his career with The Beach Boys started, and Pet Sounds became the portrait of his soul.

Brian Wilson was very influenced by Phil Spector, the originator of the “ Wall of Sound”, an innovative recording technique. Through Pet Sounds Brian wanted to make use of much of what he had heard from many of Phil’s recording to move in the realm of innovation when writing, performing and recording music. At the same time, much was going on the UK with the music of The Beatles, which Brian also used as an inspiration to create something memorable and distinctive.

My Thoughts on Pet Sounds and Brian Wilson

Furthermore, I was impressed with the musicality of The Pet Sounds, it really is an album that brings together lots of elements that are of an outstanding quality. Songs are very well written, structures are well followed, melodies are catchy, and harmony is very colorful and well placed. Pet Sounds the perfect portrait of much of what Brian had inside of him which wanted to come out for along time. Once all of this came out, the result was one of the most influential records of all times.

Finally, by listening to this album, I would say that Brian’s talent and passion for music is exemplary, as he was an empirical musician who believed in him and his teammates in order to create some of the best music of all times. This is something I earn to do soon, and by preparing my self in school, I know this dream will come to happen at the right time.

Revolver by The Beatles

As the world was changing drastically in the 1960’s, music became a great channel to influence a new generation. These generation believed in freedom of speech, equality of races, love, and world peace, which became the mantra of this time.

The Beatles, an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960, became the vivid image of what the world wanted to express at that moment. With what seemed to be a rebellious look, great musical talent, and much charisma, The Beatles quickly became the greatest band of this days.

Their first album was named “Please, Please Me” and was released in 1963, and quickly became No.1 in the UK. As their popularity grew in the UK, as well as in the US, the Beatles was the first Uk band to have a No. 1 single in the top 10 of the US charts. The Beatle mania kept growing and The Beatles continued to create some of the most remarkable albums this era.

When 1966 came around, as in space history the USSR launched Luna 10, their first Lunar orbiter, ”,The Beatles release a “lunar” record that impacted greatly the music industry; this album was “REVOLVER”.

Revolver is one of the most innovative albums of all times because of its catchy melodies, creative harmonies, instrument textures, and superb recording techniques. With all of these elements together, Revolver reached No. 1 in the Uk and US charts, something that had not been done before by any other artist.

Among the many things that made of this album something memorable in history, the use of ADT (automatic double tracking) and innovative way to record to vocals tracks one of top of the other to give the vocals a thinker feel, made it really stand out among others because of its original sound.

At this time, in “ Revolver ” The Beatles started to create some of the most original sounds with the use of tape recorders played backwards, tape loops, and dynamic effects. All of these, used along with various acoustical instruments, to create an extravagant sound that marked history forever.

Moreover, most records recorded by the Beatles were produced and arranged by George Martin, who is many times called the 5th Beatle. He contributed to much of the Beatles success in the studio when experimenting with new recording and arranging ideas. Martin also became an essential balance when the great drug abuse that Beatles took place when recording this album. Martin was able to directe much of the distorted ideas to something more logical and that made sense.

My Thoughts on Revolver

I believe that the Beatles really change the way music was perceived, listen and recorded forever. Through this album, Revolver, The Beatles demonstrated that music is not only a series of orderly ideas, but the combinations of order and disorder that can bring great results when presented tastefully. The Beatles had an amazing sound, taste to create music, and incredible talent individually and in a group setting that made them who they were.

Through this, I have learned much about getting creative, and creating music with a different approach through the use of various instruments, and techniques to come up with something innovative at all times.
